Tūhura Otago Museum delivers an incredible line-up of events, from large-scale after-hours parties and spectacular balls to inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, private conferences, and so much more. We’re on the lookout for an Events Coordinator to help us plan, organise, and deliver both public and private events. You’ll join a supportive, experienced team whose work attracts nationwide attention. This role is fast-paced, creative, and fun with the chance to work alongside community groups, businesses, and partners across the city to deliver some of the most diverse and exciting events in the region. Industry experience is an advantage, but not essential. You might come from a background in sales, customer service, hospitality, or administration. What matters most is your passion for events and your drive to make them unforgettable. Whether you’re great at growing commercial bookings, or a hospitality pro who knows how to run a seamless event, we’d love to hear from you. Fresh ideas for new event offerings are encouraged; we’re always looking for ways to engage and inspire our visitors. Day-to-day, you’ll be: Planning schedules and event calendars Budgeting and managing costs Liaising with clients, suppliers, and community groups Setting up and delivering events (often as Duty Manager) Working closely with our internal teams and external partners We’re looking for someone who is organised, creative, efficient, and above all a people person with excellent communication skills. This is a full-time, one-year fixed-term parental leave cover role, working a Tuesday to Saturday roster. However, we’re open to discussing part-time hours for the right candidate.
