Job Description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Toi Ngāpuhi is a vibrant, Northland-based arts and cultural agency born out of an iwi arts strategy, Piki Tū Rangitia. For the past seven years, they have been dedicated to enhancing and uplifting their people through creative and cultural expression. They do the mahi on the ground, helping communities build the skills and readiness to carve their own whare, running rangatahi programmes like Tai o Hī Tai o Hā, and creating spaces where their people can thrive enough to adorn their meeting houses. They are an independent agency doing meaningful work across Te Taitokerau. They are a positive, close-knit team driven by their kaupapa, working to strengthen Ngāpuhi identity through mahi toi by supporting artists, whānau, hapū, and strategic partners. Their vision is to foster excellence in creative and cultural expression, driven by a wairua of manaakitanga and deep cultural competency. As their Kaitautoko Pākihi | Business Support Lead, you will be the trusted operational partner to their General Manager and Operations Manager. They need next-level support to help their leadership team drive the aspirations of Piki Tū Rangitia. This is more than an administration role. You will be the glue that holds their operations together, ensuring their systems, processes, and daily activities run smoothly. Crucially, they are looking to bring their financial administration back in-house. While you do not need to be a qualified accountant, you must have financial prowess, a strong capability and willingness to manage bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and budget monitoring. In this role, you will: Provide high-level business, governance, and executive support to the GM and Operations Manager. Take ownership of internal bookkeeping needs, budget monitoring, account reconciliation, procurement, and financial administration. Coordinate Board administration, contract management, reporting schedules, and accountability requirements. Manage calendars, meetings, travel, agendas, minutes, and action registers. Oversee office administration and resources, creating an organised and welcoming workplace in their Kerikeri office. Identify opportunities to improve business processes, including keeping up with AI tools and new ways of working. They are looking for proactivity, someone who shows real initiative and a genuine passion for uplifting the people and communities of Te Taitokerau through the arts. The volume of mahi is high, so you need to be organised and tech-savvy (proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Xero and open to AI tools). They would love to hear from people who have worked in arts administration, programme coordination, cultural events, community arts, community development, arts funding, or creative industries management, anyone who truly understands what it means to work alongside artists and communities and wants to contribute to the collective vision. Whether you are Ngāpuhi or an ally, your values must align with their kaupapa, and you must have the confidence to help carry the organisation's operations. You will bring: Proven experience in business support, administration, or operations, with a strong emphasis on financial administration and bookkeeping. Experience working with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations, or the creative or community sector. Excellent organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently while being a supportive, collaborative team member who brings solutions rather than problems. A relevant qualification in business administration or management (or equivalent practical experience). Knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga; an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in the workplace. Ngā hua ka makere iho | What they offer This is a great role for someone looking to move home to the North or step up in their career. You will be part of a supportive, high-trust team doing mahi that truly matters for their people and their landscape. The role is based in their Kerikeri office with a planned move to Kaikohe in 2027. They value kanohi ki te kanohi, but they offer some flexibility/hybrid working if needed. He pātai?
