Field operator - Digital crop estimation Fruitometry Limited - Katikati, North Island work with cutting edge tech, without being cooped up in an office. We are seeking field operators to join us for the 2026-27 kiwifruit season, which runs from now until mid-late February. The job involves operating an ATV on kiwifruit orchards, while running our unique computer-vision system for crop estimation. All going well, you will effectively be paid to drive around on a quad bike and listen to your tunes, but as with any complex system, things sometimes go wrong. For that reason we are seeking people well versed in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of linux systems, who can identify the cause of any issues and work through them in the field. Outside of field operations, you will have the opportunity to test your mettle in upgrading our AI models, automating our workflows, and testing/integrating new sensors. Early mornings or late nights will be the norm throughout the season, so you will need to be comfortable with one of these. (we can work the schedule around preference depending if you are a morning or an evening person) Hours will vary based on workload, so some weeks may only be 30 hours, while other will have the opportunity for up to 60. You will work primarily out of one of our BOP sites at either Te Puke or Katikati, with occasional overnight/multi-day trips to distant regions such as Northland/Coromandel/Opotiki as required. Full drivers license is a must-have, due to our hours of operation.
