This is a senior finance leadership opportunity to lead the Nelson Marlborough District Finance team and provide high-quality financial management direction to the Group Director Operations.

You will help drive financial performance, minimise financial risk and support informed operational decision-making so budget expectations are met.

You will oversee core finance deliverables, including monthly reporting on income, expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow performance along with the design and preparation of district, hospital and health service budgets and ensure forecasts are completed in a timely manner.

Linking costs, budget and activity to Health Targets will be important for success.

The role also provides strategic financial planning, business case and analytical support, while building financial capability across service managers and promoting continuous improvement.

This location-specific role is based in Nelson Marlborough and works closely with the Group Director Operations.

You are an experienced senior finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement, credibility and a collaborative approach.

• A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification.
\n
• Chartered Accountant status, or equivalent membership of a professional accounting association.
\n
• More than eight years' experience in senior financial management roles, including leadership responsibility for people, budgets, forecasting, cost management, organisational risk and compliance.

• Strong technical knowledge of accounting, finance, cost accounting, performance analytics, financial regulations and compliance.
\n
• The ability to build trusted relationships with clinical teams, operational managers and financial stakeholders, communicating clearly with different audiences.
\n
• Experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action and contributing to an inclusive, safe and values-led workplace.
\n
• A commitment to continuous improvement, professional integrity and supporting the development of others.
\n

Experience in a healthcare or clinical environment, along with familiarity with financial reporting and analytics systems, would be advantageous.
