Intensive Services Support Worker - Casual New Zealand Health Group – Christchurch, South Island At NZCL, our Intensive Support Services (ISS) provide highly individualised residential support for tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke (adults) with complex support needs . We focus on creating safe, structured, and supportive home environments where people can build independence, develop life skills, strengthen relationships, and achieve meaningful outcomes. Our approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in Positive Behaviour Support. We work alongside whānau, guardians, healthcare professionals, educators, and other key stakeholders to ensure consistent, high-quality care and support. We are currently seeking Casual Support Workers to join our Intensive Support Services team. This role is designed to provide cover for planned and unplanned absences, including sick leave, annual leave, training, and periods of increased support needs across our services. Successful applicants must be flexible, responsive, and willing to work at short notice. While opportunities may be available across the wider Canterbury region, applicants must be willing and able to work regularly in Rangiora , as this is a core service location. As part of ISS, you will work within a multidisciplinary team supporting people with complex behavioural, health, social, disability, and developmental needs to achieve greater independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. About the Role | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko As a Casual Support Worker , you will support tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke accessing our Intensive Support Services to live meaningful and fulfilling lives while developing greater independence and self-determination. You will: Be available to provide support at short notice when staffing cover is required Work across a variety of services throughout the Canterbury region as needed Support people to achieve their personal goals and aspirations Promote health, safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes Support attendance at school, education, training, employment, and community activities where appropriate Encourage participation in whć, cultural, recreational, and community connections Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and individual support plans Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide consistent and high-quality support Assist people to develop daily living skills, social skills, confidence, and independence Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing planning and reviews Who We're Looking For | Ko wai ţ ā mą ŋ e rapu ana We are looking for people who are: Flexible and available to work shifts at short notice Willing to work across services throughout Canterbury when required Able and willing to work regularly in Rangiora Passionate about supporting tāngata, tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke to achieve positive outcomes Reliable, adaptable, and committed to making a difference in people's lives Confident building positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries Understanding of, or willing to learn, trauma-informed practice Understanding of, or willing to learn, Positive Behaviour Support principles Resilient, calm, and confident when working alongside complex behaviours and challenging situations Strong communicators and effective team players Culturally responsive and committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles Hold a Full NZ Driver Licence We particularly encourage applications from people with backgrounds in trades, construction, fitness, personal training, sports coaching, outdoor education, youth work, emergency services, security, community services, or other active, people-focused industries.
