We’re working with a large, well-established New Zealand organisation that supports a critical national service and is investing heavily in the modernisation of its technology platforms. As part of this journey, they’re looking to add an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to their team. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on while also helping shape technical direction. You’ll play a key role in building and maintaining reliable platform services, improving automation, driving operational excellence, and supporting the ongoing evolution of cloud and infrastructure capabilities. Your day to day will include : Designing and enhancing platform and infrastructure solutions that are secure, scalable, and resilient Improving automation across environments and deployment processes Building and supporting modern CI/CD and GitOps practices Working closely with development teams to improve software delivery and operational efficiency Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to incident management and service reliability initiatives Providing technical leadership, mentoring colleagues, and promoting engineering best practices Collaborating with vendors, technical teams, and business stakeholders to deliver platform outcomes Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across tooling, processes, and performance Background required : You’ll bring a strong background in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps within complex environments. The ideal candidate will have experience working with modern automation and container technologies and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced engineering environment. Key experience : Openshift is a must have for this role including: Tekton/Openshift Pipelines, ArgoCD/Openshift gitops, Openshift ACM policies, Openshift Operators, Red Hat Service Mesh, MetalLB Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible, or similar CI/CD and GitOps tooling including technologies such as Jenkins, Argo CD, Tekton, or equivalent Monitoring, observability, and logging solutions Source control and release management using Git Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical decision-making Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to high-performing technical teams You will be joining an organisation with a strong sense of purpose, a collaborative culture, and a significant technology roadmap ahead.
