Nāku te rourou | what we bring The Christchurch Methodist Mission (CMM) is a social service agency of Te Hāhi Weteriana o Aotearoa with responsibility for services throughout Te Patiki Whakatekateka o Waitaha (Canterbury), Te Tai Poutini (West Coast) and Te Tau Ihu (Marlborough Region). Our kaupapa serves the youngest to oldest members of our community through early childhood education, social work and psychological support in schools and homes, financial mentoring, housing and homelessness services and WesleyCare our home for kaumātua. With over 300 kaimahi we have an amazing amount of skills to help strengthen our communities. Youth Hub Youth Hub Housing provides accommodation for young people aged 16 - 24 years who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. Our role is to provide a safe, supportive environment where young people can develop the confidence and skills needed to move towards independent living. Te Tūnga | the role As a Casual Residential Youth Support Worker, you will help provide a calm, welcoming and supportive environment for our residents. Some shifts are busy and unpredictable, while others are quieter and focus on being available. Every shift is about building positive relationships, maintaining a safe environment, and responding appropriately if support is needed. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for flexible work that is both rewarding and varied. Typical shifts include: Morning: 7am - 3.30pm Afternoon/Evening: Typically, between 1pm and 9.30pm - 10pm (start times can vary to suit someone also working) Overnight: 9.30pm - 7.30am Our service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so flexibility across these shifts is essential. Nāu te rourou | what you will bring Successful applicants will have: Experience in working with young people, particularly in a mentoring way Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning to independence Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping rangatahi succeed An understanding of the relevance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to the services offered by CMM Ability to work flexibly including rostered hours to support 24/7 running of the facility Sound administrative and computer skills (MS Word, Email, and Database applications) A clean, current drivers licence Ngā hua ka riro ki a koe | What’s in it for you?
