With a strong pipeline of projects, their portfolio includes government contracts, retirement villages, industrial, retail, and mixed-use developments. A rare opportunity has arisen for a Senior Estimator to join their Hamilton or Tauranga branch. This role plays a crucial part in securing future projects, maintaining staff retention, ensuring profitability, and driving brand growth. The position involves scoping and estimating a diverse range of projects, from complex commercial buildings to stadiums and everything in between. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates and managing the tender process from initial review through to submission. This includes analysing plans and project documentation, developing first-principles estimates, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and contributing to pricing strategies, construction methodologies, and value engineering. You will work closely with the Chief Estimator, Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Managers, clients, and project teams, while providing guidance throughout the tender process. The role will also involve assessing project risks, supporting bid/no-bid decisions, participating in post-tender negotiations, attending site visits and client meetings, and ensuring all tender documentation and reporting is maintained to a high standard. To be successful in this role, you will need: A relevant tertiary qualification in Construction or Quantity Surveying Significant Estimating experience within a Tier 1 / Tier 2 Main Contractor The ability to work well under pressure. A personable and professional approach with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues. Experience in measuring a vast range of projects within Commercial Constructionfrom small alterations to $100 Million in value A solid understanding of standard construction contracts. The ability to adapt to company estimating procedures and software. Above-market salary package, including a vehicle or vehicle allowance.
