New Zealand Health Group – Christchurch, South Island At NZCL, our Intensive Support Services (ISS) provide highly individualised residential support for tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke (adults) with complex support needs . We focus on creating safe, structured, and supportive home environments where people can build independence, develop life skills, strengthen relationships, and achieve meaningful outcomes. Our approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in Positive Behaviour Support. We work alongside whānau, guardians, healthcare professionals, educators, and other key stakeholders to ensure consistent, high-quality care and support. We are currently seeking Full-Time & Part-Time Support Workers to join our Christchurch Intensive Support Services team. This role offers a stable roster and the opportunity to work across multiple Christchurch services, supporting people with complex behavioural, health, social, disability, and developmental needs. As part of ISS, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to support individuals to develop skills, participate in their communities, achieve personal goals, and experience a greater level of independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. About the Service | Mō te Ratonga Intensive Support Services (Christchurch) About the Role | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko As a Full-Time or Part-Time Support Worker, you will support tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke accessing our Intensive Support Services to live meaningful and fulfilling lives while developing greater independence and self-determination. You will: Support people to achieve their personal goals and aspirations Promote health, safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes Support attendance at school, education, training, employment, and community activities where relevant Encourage participation in whānau, cultural, recreational, and community connections Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and individual support plans Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide consistent and high-quality support Assist people to develop daily living skills, social skills, confidence, and independence Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing planning and reviews Who We're Looking For | Ko wai tā mātou e rapu ana We are looking for people who are: Passionate about supporting tāngata, tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke to achieve positive outcomes Reliable, adaptable, and committed to making a difference in people's lives Confident building positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries Understanding of, or willing to learn, trauma-informed practice Understanding of, or willing to learn, Positive Behaviour Support principles Resilient, calm, and confident when working alongside complex behaviours and challenging situations Knowledgeable about intellectual disability, autism, neurodiversity, mental health, or complex support needs (preferred) Strong communicators and effective team players Culturally responsive and committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles Hold a Full NZ Driver Licence We particularly encourage applications from people with experience in active, people-focused environments such as: Trades and construction Personal training and fitness industries Sports coaching, recreation, and outdoor education Youth work and mentoring Emergency services, security, or corrections Community services and support roles Leadership roles that require resilience, teamwork, problem-solving, and effective communication These backgrounds often provide valuable transferable skills that support engagement, mentoring, motivation, de-escalation, relationship-building, and the delivery of high-quality support for people with complex needs.
