Purpose The Family Start Kaimahi will deliver an intensive child‑centred and family‑focused home visiting education programme, working with families/whanau to build on their strengths and capacities, ensuring that their children have the best possible start in life. We have the opportunity for a Family Start Kaimahi to join our team based in Kaikohe. Specific duties and responsibilities Specialist Knowledge: Draw on knowledge of appropriate models of practice to use with Client/Whanau. Deliver parenting resources to each Client/Whanau weekly for a minimum of one hour. Ensure that parenting resource information is accurate, up‑to‑date and to the required standard. Use organisation assessment tools effectively. Create an individual Whanau Plan for each Client/Whanau, including achievable goals for the family/whanau that align to Family Start objectives. From time to time, it may be necessary to undertake various duties not included in the job description. Service Planning & Programme Delivery Contribute to planning processes and to the achievement of programme milestone, ensuring that: All Client/Whanau have completed Strength Needs Assessments. All Client/Whanau have individual Whanau Plans. All Client/Whanau have a Child Safety Plan. All Client/Whanau have regularly reviewed the Child Safety Plan. All Client/Whanau are registered with a GP, Dentist and Well Child Provider. All Client/Whanau are up to date with Well Child checks and immunisations. Skills, experience & education Excellent computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Full NZ Drivers' Licence. Ability to work unsupervised. Thorough and committed, with a strong desire to be part of positive change. Innovative, resourceful and able to find solutions. Sensible, honest and able to exercise discretion. Superior communication, planning and strategic oversight skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Have a high level of proficiency in Te Reo and/or understanding of Māori customs/principles. Flexibility to work under tight timeframes and possess strong change management skills. Able to pass a criminal convictions check/clean slate police vetting. Graduate qualifications in direct or related industries preferred.
