Quantity Surveyor

ALH New Plymouth is recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a construction team. We're looking for someone who understands the commercial side of construction and can confidently manage project costs from tender through to completion. About the role As the Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on budget and remain commercially successful. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to manage costs, contracts and project financials. Key responsibilities Preparing tenders, estimates and project budgets Reviewing construction drawings and quantities Obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier pricing Managing project costs and budgets Preparing progress claims and payment schedules Managing variations and cost adjustments Reviewing subcontractor and supplier invoices Forecasting project costs and profitability Contract administration and commercial reporting Identifying commercial risks and opportunities Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers Managing final accounts and project close-out Working alongside the wider project team to ensure projects are delivered successfully About you We're looking for someone with: Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry Strong understanding of construction costs and contracts Experience with estimating, tendering and variations Excellent attention to detail and numerical skills Strong communication and negotiation skillsGood computer skills, particularly Excel The ability to work independently while being part of a wider team A practical understanding of how construction projects operate Whether you're an experienced QS looking for your next challenge or a Junior/Mid-Level QS ready to take the next step, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
