Specimen Services Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician Roles: Permanent part time 0.6 FTE, 48 hours per fortnight. Work rostered shifts across North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital. About the Role Waitematā District Specimen Services has 2 part time vacancies available for a hardworking and reliable person. You will be part of a friendly, dynamic and culturally diverse team working in a busy, fast-paced environment contributing to the delivery of Waitematā District’s promise of Best care for everyone. This position is a great opportunity for a person who either has registration in (preferred) or is willing to work towards the Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician qualification (MLPAT) in Specimen Services. You will be required to participate in: Fully rostered shifts; Monday to Sunday including evening and midnight shifts. Evening shifts: 1:30 PM - 10 PM; 3:15 PM - 11:30 PM. Midnight shifts: 11 PM - 7 AM. Day shifts: 6:30 AM - 3 PM, 7:30 AM - 4 PM, 8 AM - 4:30 PM, 9 AM - 1 PM and 10 AM - 6:30 PM. Work weekdays, weekends and public holidays at both North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital laboratory (predominantly 8 hour shifts with occasional 4-5 hour short shifts). About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Medical Sciences (MS) Council of New Zealand registration is preferred however candidates working towards registration and APC may be considered. NZ residency or NZ citizenship (Preferred). NZ drivers licence. Experience and skill in Specimen Services tasks (Preferred). Knowledge of the Delphic Explorer application is an advantage. Ability to cover service delivery hours weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Ability to work at North Shore and Waitakere Hospital Laboratory campus. Additionally, you’ll be self‑motivated, able to multitask and work with minimum supervision, have excellent data entry skill and accuracy, work calmly under pressure, listen and communicate effectively, deal with a wide range of people in a sensitive manner, and be able to follow procedures and instructions with a high level of attention to detail.
