We operate a busy convenience store together with a popular Takeaway food outlet, serving customers throughout Temuka and the wider Timaru district. Our business has built a strong local reputation supported by an established online ordering and delivery presence, resulting in high daily customer volumes and a fast-paced operating environment. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading our growing business. Key Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the business. Supervise, train and support retail and food service staff. Prepare staff rosters and allocate daily duties. Monitor sales performance and assist in achieving business targets. Manage inventory, stock ordering, stock control and merchandising. Maintain high standards of customer service across all business operations. Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally. Assist with cash handling, banking and daily reconciliations. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, company policies and retail legislation. Support online order fulfilment and coordinate with delivery platforms. Maintain attractive store presentation and promotional displays. Prepare operational reports and assist with administrative duties. Support the Store Manager in maintaining efficient, compliant and profitable operations. Skills & Experience Applicants must have: At least 2 years' relevant retail management or supervisory experience, or A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Retail Management, Management or a related field. Applicants should also have: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Experience using POS systems, stock management and cash handling procedures. Good organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work efficiently in a busy retail and food service environment. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required. What We Offer Minimum 32 guaranteed hours per week.
