HAL Consulting Limited – Newmarket, North Island We're looking for an Intermediate or Senior Stormwater Network Modeller to join our growing Three Waters team based in Auckland/Wellington/Hamilton, working on complex stormwater planning, flood modelling, and infrastructure advisory projects across New Zealand. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world drainage and flood risk challenges, working with councils and infrastructure providers, and contributing to projects that improve community resilience. About the Role You'll play a key role in delivering stormwater modelling and infrastructure assessments, supporting strategic planning, flood risk management, growth planning, and development-related projects. Your work will include: Building, validating, and maintaining stormwater network models (e.g. InfoWorks ICM 2D; TUFLOW) Undertaking hydraulic and hydrological assessments of stormwater catchments and networks Assessing network capacity, overland flow paths, flood hazards, and climate change impacts Supporting stormwater servicing strategies, catchment management plans, and business cases Analysing rainfall, flow monitoring, and GIS datasets Preparing clear, concise technical reports for clients and stakeholders Collaborating with planners, designers, asset managers, and civil engineers What We're Looking For 5+ years' experience in stormwater modelling or a related field Strong experience with tools such as: InfoWorks ICM 2D (preferred) TUFLOW HEC-RAS MIKE+, or similar hydraulic modelling platforms Strong understanding of: Hydrology and hydraulic modelling Overland flow paths and flood hazard assessments Catchment runoff modelling and rainfall analysis Model calibration using rainfall and flow monitoring data GIS mapping and spatial analysis Experience working with New Zealand councils or infrastructure providers (desirable) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to a range of stakeholders To be considered for this role, you must be eligible to work in New Zealand (citizen, resident, or valid work visa holder).
