Computer Lounge has been building premium gaming PCs and professional workstations for New Zealand customers since 2003. Every PC we build is hand-assembled and tested by our skilled technicians, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, cable management and presentation. We work with the latest PC hardware every day, building everything from gaming PCs through to high-performance professional workstations. About the Role The PC Build Technician is responsible for assembling, configuring, testing and preparing PCs to Computer Lounge's standards. This is a hands-on production role, and previous PC building experience is required. You need to already be confident building a complete PC from individual components, including installing CPUs, cooling, RAM, graphics cards, storage, power supplies and completing professional cable management. You will also install Windows, drivers and software, configure BIOS settings, complete system testing and quality checks, and prepare finished PCs for dispatch. This is a busy, high-volume environment, so you need to be able to work efficiently and consistently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. The role is physically active. You will spend most of the day standing at a build bench, moving between work areas and regularly lifting and handling desktop PCs and components. Please note: This role requires availability to work at least one weekend day each week. Success Factors Your success in this role will come from strong practical PC building skills, attention to detail, efficiency, reliability and a genuine interest in computer hardware. You need to take pride in the systems you build while also being comfortable working at pace in a busy production environment. You Must Have: Previous hands-on experience building complete PCs from individual components Strong knowledge of modern PC hardware Excellent PC assembly and cable management skills Experience installing CPUs, cooling systems, RAM, GPUs, storage and power supplies Strong knowledge of Windows installation, drivers and software Good understanding of BIOS/UEFI configuration Strong hardware troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistent build quality Excellent attention to detail and pride in your workmanship Ability to stand and work at a build bench for extended periods Ability to safely lift, move and handle desktop PCs and computer equipment Ability to work well in a busy team environment A genuine passion for PCs and technology Formal IT qualifications are welcome but are not required. Practical PC building experience is far more important for this position.
