We welcome leisure travellers, business visitors, private groups and company guests, with a focus on personalised service and a comfortable guest experience. We are looking for a reliable and practical Live-in Hotel Duty Manager to take responsibility for the property's day-to-day on-site operations. This is a hands-on role in a small accommodation environment. The successful candidate will be expected to personally assist with guest services, room readiness, property presentation and other practical duties whenever required. We welcome leisure travellers, business visitors, private groups and company guests, with a focus on personalised service and a comfortable guest experience. We are looking for a reliable and practical Live-in Hotel Duty Manager to take responsibility for the property's day-to-day on-site operations. This is a hands-on role in a small accommodation environment. The successful candidate will be expected to personally assist with guest services, room readiness, property presentation and other practical duties whenever required. About the role As the Live-in Hotel Duty Manager, you will be the main on-site point of contact for guests and will help ensure that the property operates smoothly each day. Your work will include managing bookings and guest arrivals, inspecting rooms, coordinating cleaning and maintenance, responding to guest requests and helping directly with operational tasks where necessary. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of routine issues and working cooperatively with the wider property and management teams. You will be required to reside in the on-site accommodation provided by the Company. The role will operate under an agreed roster, including some evenings, weekends and public holidays, together with reasonable on-call responsibilities. Living on site does not mean working 24 hours a day. Normal working hours, rostered days off and on-call arrangements will be clearly agreed and recorded in the employment agreement. Key responsibilities Guest services Welcome guests and coordinate check-ins and check-outs Respond promptly and professionally to guest enquiries, requests and complaints Provide guests with property information and practical assistance Coordinate airport transfers, local transport and other guest arrangements where required Assist with company guests, weddings, private functions and special events Respond to reasonable after-hours guest matters while rostered on call Reservations and administration Manage reservations, room availability and guest information Monitor booking platforms and respond to guest communications Ensure booking and property information remains accurate and up to date Maintain daily records of bookings, guest matters, incidents and outstanding actions Prepare brief operational updates for Management Room readiness and property presentation Inspect guest rooms before arrival to ensure they are clean, properly presented and fully supplied Check common areas and the wider property throughout the day Restock guest supplies, linen and other operational items when required Assist with room preparation, basic cleaning, linen handling and property presentation when operationally necessary Ensure keys, access arrangements and Company property are properly controlled Report and follow up on damage, safety issues and maintenance requirements Housekeeping and maintenance coordination Coordinate the daily work of cleaners, maintenance providers and other contractors Confirm that cleaning and maintenance work has been completed to the required standard Arrange routine repairs within approved processes and delegated authority Follow up promptly on outstanding maintenance and operational matters Monitor stock levels and recommend purchasing requirements Help minimise unnecessary expenditure and protect Company assets General operations Take ownership of routine day-to-day operational issues Resolve straightforward guest and property matters without unnecessary escalation Escalate significant complaints, safety concerns, expenditure or other material issues to Management Work cooperatively with the Property Assistant Manager, or Operations Manager and other team members Perform other reasonable hands-on duties necessary for the effective operation of the property About you This position would suit someone who: Is reliable, responsible and consistently available for their agreed roster Enjoys practical work and is willing to roll up their sleeves Takes pride in cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail Is comfortable working independently without constant supervision Remains calm and professional when dealing with guests or unexpected problems Communicates openly and works constructively as part of a team Can accept direction and operate within Company policies and delegated authority Is organised and able to follow tasks through to completion Understands that no operational task is "beneath" the Duty Manager when help is reasonably required Is genuinely comfortable living at the property Skills and experience Ideally, you will have: Previous experience in a hotel, motel, lodge, serviced apartment, short-term accommodation or similar hospitality environment Experience in front office, guest services, duty management or accommodation operations Experience using reservation systems and online booking platforms Strong customer service and practical problem-solving skills Good written and verbal English communication skills Basic computer and administration skills A full New Zealand driver licence Current legal entitlement to work in New Zealand Experience with Booking.com, Airbnb, Little Hotel or similar platforms would be an advantage. A current First Aid Certificate would also be beneficial. Employment will be subject to satisfactory reference checks and other reasonable pre-employment checks relevant to the role. #J-18808-Ljbffr
