DescriptionMō te tūranga | About the role\n

You will be partnered with two Directorates to embed strong, practical health and safety practices that supportorganisationalgoals.

\n

The directorates you support are responsible for, but not limited to: engineering, biosecurity, biodiversity, flood response, environmental science & monitoring.

\n

Influence how work is done every day by championing safe,healthyand sustainable ways of working.

\n

Provide expert advice and coaching to managers on risk management, incidentinvestigationand legislative obligations.

\n

Lead health and safetyprogrammes, critical riskreviewsand continuous improvement initiatives.

\n

Contribute to the development and ongoing effectiveness of the Health and Safety Management System.

\n

Trusted health and safety professional with strong business partnering capability.

\n

Advanced technical knowledge with strong interpersonal skills.

\n

Confident coaching and influencing leaders.

\n

Pragmatic and solution‐focused.

\n

Tertiaryqualificationin Health & Safety or Safety Management.

\n

NEBOSH certificate

\n

Minimum 8 years’ experience in a similar role.

\n

Experience in risk assessment,auditingand investigation.

\n

Local government experienceis desirable, but not essential.

Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing manager, work alongside the H&S Advisor to deliver organisational H&S initiatives.

\n

The role is part of the wider People & Capability team, encompassing Learning & Development and Human Resources.

\n
