Casual Registered Nurse – Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) Christchurch Eye Surgery – Christchurch, South Island As a Casual PACU Registered Nurse, you will work alongside our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality recovery care for patients undergoing a range of ophthalmic procedures under sedation and general anaesthesia. This role offers flexibility with no night shifts, weekends, or public holidays, making it ideal for nurses seeking work-life balance. Key responsibilities Provide high-quality recovery care for patients undergoing ophthalmic procedures under sedation and general anaesthesia Work alongside the multidisciplinary team in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit Conduct patient assessment and monitoring Recognise and respond to clinical deterioration Deliver safe, patient-centred care Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team About you Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate A minimum of two years' experience in PACU, perioperative nursing, critical care, emergency nursing, or acute surgical nursing Competency in patient assessment, monitoring, and recognising and responding to clinical deterioration Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A commitment to delivering safe, patient-centred care The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Flexibility and reliability to work on an as-required basis Experience caring for patients following ophthalmic procedures (desirable) Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or CORE Advanced certification (desirable) About us Christchurch Eye Surgery is a leading private day-stay hospital specialising in ophthalmic surgery.
