Job Description
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Aluminium Joinery Maintenance Technician Somewhere, right now, a homeowner is standing in front of a sliding door that has decided, unilaterally, to stop sliding. They are not angry yet. They are still in the bargaining phase. They are jiggling the handle in a way that suggests they believe the door can sense their feelings and will respond to gentle reasoning. It cannot. It will not. This is where you come in and where the jiggling ends. We build the joinery. Our builder clients install it in beautiful homes and hand over the keys with enormous pride. Everyone is thrilled. Then, some months later, a window develops a personality, a lock forgets how locks work, and suddenly it’s a warranty job – which means someone needs to go into that lovely new or carefully renovated home, on our builder’s behalf, and fix it without breaking the spell. That someone needs to be brilliant, and that someone needs to be you. We’re not after “handy”. Handy is your uncle at a barbecue with a multitool and a theory. We’re after someone with genuine technical skill, the diagnostic instincts of a very calm detective, and the trustworthiness of a person you’d hand your house keys, your dog, and your Netflix password to without blinking. You will be in people’s homes. Around their things. Near their fridge (which you will not open no matter how good the leftovers smell). Responsibilities (yes, all of these are real): Enter occupied homes and leave them exactly as immaculate as you found them, minus one broken window. Diagnose the actual fault, not the fault that’s easiest to blame on the current moon phase. Restore sliders, locks, seals, and hinges to full, dignified working order – no duct tape, no vibes-based repairs. Represent both us and the builder so convincingly the homeowner assumes you personally supervised construction. Report back to builders clearly, so nobody’s left guessing whether the job’s actually done or just “done-ish”. Leave each home quieter, smoother, and one hundred percent less likely to trend on the neighbourhood Facebook group. Has real, proper technical knowledge of aluminium joinery – you could explain a roller mechanism to a stranger at a party and they’d stay for the whole story. Diagnoses problems like a detective, not like someone shaking a Magic 8-Ball. Trustworthy to an almost suspicious degree. References will be checked. Halos are optional but appreciated. Treats every home like a museum exhibit they’re not allowed to touch, except for the bit they’re actually there to fix. Presents well, speaks clearly, and won’t leave a homeowner wondering if they should count the silverware. Can be trusted to run their own day without a supervisor standing behind them holding a clipboard. Is in possession of a full, clean driver’s licence (because “I biked here with a toolbox” is not the confidence-inspiring entrance we’re after). Competitive pay – the kind that doesn’t require a follow-up conversation. Variety. Every stuck door has its own tragic backstory and you’ll hear most of them. The quiet, smug satisfaction of a door that now shuts on the first try, every time. Who the heck are we? A South Auckland aluminium window fabricator with big goals. We love working with builders, and we want them to love working with us, too. Trust and integrity are at the core of everything we do, because in this game your reputation travels faster than a rumour at a barbecue. We’ve built ours on great quality joinery, backed up by customer service that actually means something when someone rings with a problem. We’re not the biggest player out there, but we care – properly care – about every single client who trusts us with their build. We want them thrilled with our product AND our people. Our team? We’re a friendly, hard-working bunch. All ages. All genders. A proper smorgasbord of backgrounds and accents. Our workshop treats every power ballad that comes on the radio like it’s Live Aid and they’re headlining; there’s also a heated, ongoing debate in the office about whether Boston cream doughnuts constitute an actual food group. But, without exception, we sweat the details and we go the extra mile. (If you can sing off key and have strong opinions about how many sugars you should put in a tea, you’ll likely fit right in.) Important note (because apparently we have to say this): Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand permanently – not temporarily, not hypothetically, and not just on weekends. If your visa status involves the words “pending”, “hopeful”, or “my cousin’s sorting it”, then unfortunately this role isn’t for you. We need someone who can commit without requiring a small novel’s worth of immigration paperwork. Also worth mentioning (before you pack a bag): We’re not accepting overseas applicants. Love the enthusiasm, but we’re after an applicant who’s already in New Zealand, not someone who’ll be in line for 34 hours of economy-class character building. Be careful - Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Don't transfer any money or complete suspicious online surveys.
