Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and technically competent Scientific Territory Manager to drive sales performance, expand our market presence, and build long-term relationships with our Auckland, Waikato and BOP customers. Role Summary This is a dynamic hybrid role combining technical sales with brand ownership. You will promote, sell, and support a premium portfolio of Life Science, Molecular Biology, and Biotech products (including, Qiagen, Implen, Monmouth, Analytik Jena, Uvitec, Ogibiotec, SBI, and Kerry Ingredients plus others). This position requires consultative selling, deep technical understanding, and strategic execution to achieve revenue targets while delivering exceptional customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Sales & Business Development Achieve agreed revenue and margin targets within the Auckland Waikato and BOP territories. Identify and pursue new business opportunities through active prospecting and market analysis. Develop and execute strategic territory business plans, prioritising key accounts. Deliver professional sales presentations, highly technical product demonstrations, and tailored proposals. Territory Management Routinely visiting your key customer Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned product lines, applications, and competitor offerings. Bridge the gap between global suppliers and the local market through regular reporting and relationship management. Provide first-line technical and application support to the wider sales team and customers. Build strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, researchers, lab managers, and procurement teams. Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer workflows, applications, and pain points. Own the full sales cycle, from needs assessment to installation handover and after-sales support. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of customer interactions within the company CRM system. Market & Commercial Activities Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to provide actionable insights to management. Lead marketing initiatives, including seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and conferences. Contribute to accurate inventory forecasting, pipeline management, and monthly sales reporting. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Achievement of sales revenue and gross margin targets Growth of new accounts and expansion of existing key accounts Sales pipeline value, opportunity conversion rate, and forecast accuracy Suppliers’ retention though relationship management, reporting, and meeting expectations Customers’ retention, satisfaction, and engagement metrics Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, or a related scientific discipline. Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience in scientific laboratories or technical sales (preferably within Life Science, Biotech or Chemistry). Knowledge: Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and Life Science applications. Legalities: Valid NZ work rights, a clean driver’s licence, and a willingness to travel within the assigned territory. Proven consultative selling, relationship building, and negotiation skills. Strong technical aptitude with the ability to translate complex concepts into customer value. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. High level of self-motivation, organization, and time management. Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
