You'll lead the kitchen across all aspects of the operation at Citizens Catering. This isn't your average Chef role – no two days are quite the same. One day you could be serving lunch in the Octagon. The next you're feeding hundreds of people at a festival, wedding, corporate function or one of our busy evening neighbourhood stops. We're looking for an experienced Senior Chef who wants to take ownership of our kitchen, help shape where we're heading next, and be part of a business that's always evolving. Key responsibilities Lead daily food preparation and service to ensure every meal meets Citizens' high standards Manage kitchen workflow, prep systems and service to keep things running smoothly Develop new menu items and seasonal specials that keep our customers coming back Handle recipe costing, portion control and stock management to maintain strong margins Order and purchase while building relationships with suppliers to secure the best quality products at the best possible pricing Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and compliance standards Train, mentor and lead our kitchen team while creating a positive culture About you Experience as a Head/sous or Senior Chef Organised and thrives in a fast-paced environment Loves creating food that people genuinely get excited about Can lead a team while staying calm under pressure Takes pride in consistency, quality and attention to detail Enjoys variety and doesn't mind that their "office" changes depending on where Citizens is serving that day About us We've built a brand that people across Dunedin genuinely follow.
