Roading and Building Recruitment – Dunedin, South Island Hydro Excavation | Traffic Management | CCTV THE ROLE Our client is an established South Island contracting business delivering hydro excavation, traffic management, CCTV and jetting services across multiple regions. Beginning in 2021 in Dunedin, they have strong foundations in place and a solid reputation and customer relationships to maintain and build upon. We are looking for a competent, connected person to take over the original branch and deliver continued success as they gear up for a busy Spring. You will lead branch performance across Dunedin and the wider Otago region, ensuring operational efficiency, strong utilisation, commercial discipline and consistent service delivery. You will have strong experience in the civil construction/infrastructure industry and know what it takes to get the job done. Not just an office job, you can walk the talk by getting out on site, on the trucks and in the thick of it, training up new team members and leading from the front. We are looking at a mid-September start for a thorough handover to set you up for success. This is a Monday – Friday role based at the yard in Mosgiel, with some occasional weekend work if a job requirement comes in. You will Drive revenue growth and identify new business opportunities Strengthen client relationships and secure repeat work Oversee staffing, resourcing, fleet utilisation and scheduling Improve margins through cost control and operational efficiencies Ensure H&S compliance and quality standards are upheld Support recruitment, performance management and team development ABOUT YOU You are hands-on, operationally strong and confident leading from the front. You bring: Proven experience in a Management role Background in civil construction, infrastructure services, hydro, TTM or similar A class 4 licence (you will need to jump on a truck from time to time) Strong commercial acumen; you understand utilisation, margins and growth Experience managing and leading a small team Ability to identify and convert business opportunities Solid understanding of fleet, plant and labour management A practical, solutions-focused leadership style Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills A genuine interest in developing people and creating a positive, collaborative culture WHAT WE OFFER Excellent salary package reflective of experience Vehicle + tools of the trade Supportive, down-to-earth ownership Career growth within an expanding business Opportunity to shape systems, culture and future direction Some occasional travel to the Christchurch head office will be required from time to time.
