Senior Developer – Web Platform & Digital Applications Morgan Project Services (NZ) Ltd – Christchurch, South Island We're looking for an experienced developer who loves building high-quality web applications, designing practical digital experiences, and solving real business problems through technology. We're a New Zealand-based business with a mix of frontline and back-office teams. Like many established businesses, we have a core legacy ERP, operational processes that have evolved over time, and a significant opportunity to modernise how systems connect, how data moves through the business, and how our customers and staff interact with our platforms. This role sits in the middle of that journey: web applications, customer and staff portals, mobile platforms, integrations, and practical software engineering. What You'll Work On You'll help design, build, and improve systems across the business, including: Customer and partner facing web applications and portals Internal business applications and operational tools React-based user interfaces and frontend architecture Integration with our mobile application ecosystem APIs, backend services, and data integrations Digital services connecting modern platforms with legacy business systems Platform capabilities that support automation and operational efficiency New ideas, prototypes, and solutions that can become production systems Our current technology mix includes React, TypeScript, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Azure, iOS applications, Python, Java, and related integration and automation tooling. Experience with these technologies is beneficial, but we care more about capability than matching every keyword. The Team You'll be joining a small software engineering team where each senior developer drives a primary technology domain while contributing across the broader platform. While each developer has a clear area of accountability, we deliberately avoid hard technical silos. We believe specialists are most effective when they understand how the wider platform works and are willing to contribute outside their primary domain when required. Current areas of ownership broadly include: Mobile Applications Automation & AI Integration & Infrastructure Web Applications What We're Looking For We care less about a perfect CV and more about how you think, build, and solve problems. You'll likely be a good fit if you: Have strong commercial experience with React and modern web development. Understand full-stack application architecture. Are comfortable working with APIs, databases, cloud services, and application deployments. Can take a vague business problem and turn it into a practical solution. Understand that business systems are often interconnected, imperfect, and constantly evolving. Care about delivering useful outcomes rather than pursuing technical purity. Can work independently, make sensible technical decisions, and communicate clearly. Enjoy understanding how systems fit together rather than focusing exclusively on a single technology layer. Strongly Preferred Experience Any of the following would be highly valued: Applications with commercial iOS development experience will be particularly attractive, given our existing mobile platform and the close relationship between our web and mobile applications. Commercial React and TypeScript development Maintaining or evolving production mobile applications Supabase and PostgreSQL Azure or cloud-hosted applications API design and integration Authentication and identity platforms Legacy ERP or business systems integration The Curiosity Factor This remains important to us.
