Hydraulic Support Technician - Monday to Friday Tasman Mill | Kawerau Be the hydraulic expert the site relies on. Monday–Friday. No weekend roster. No chasing the same breakdown twice. This is an opportunity for an experienced Hydraulic Technician, Hydraulic Fitter or Mechanical Fitter with strong hydraulic experience to take ownership of hydraulic systems across a large-scale industrial site. You’ll become the go-to hydraulic specialist for the site — diagnosing complex faults, solving recurring problems and helping improve the reliability of critical equipment. This is a hands-on technical role , but with a difference. Rather than simply fixing the immediate problem and moving on, you’ll have the time and responsibility to understand why it failed and what can be done to stop it happening again. Your day will involve a combination of hands-on troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair and reliability improvement , including: Advanced hydraulic fault-finding and troubleshooting Diagnosing recurring hydraulic system failures Reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics Testing and repairing hydraulic components and systems Supporting planned maintenance and shutdown activities Investigating hydraulic failures and identifying root causes Recommending and implementing improvements to prevent repeat failures Improving preventative maintenance practices Supporting the maintenance team with hydraulic technical advice Reviewing hydraulic equipment, documentation and spare parts requirements Working with engineering and maintenance teams on hydraulic improvements About you We're looking for someone who really knows hydraulics and enjoys solving problems . You could currently be working as a: Hydraulic Technician Hydraulic Fitter Hydraulic Field Service Technician Mechanical Fitter Heavy Diesel Technician Heavy Equipment Technician Industrial Maintenance Technician You don't necessarily need to have worked in a pulp or paper mill. We're interested in people who have developed strong hydraulic troubleshooting skills in demanding industrial or heavy equipment environments . You’ll ideally have: Strong hands-on hydraulic fault-finding and diagnostic experience The ability to confidently read hydraulic schematics Experience working on complex hydraulic systems Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Experience diagnosing the cause of a failure rather than simply replacing components A practical, hands-on approach Good communication skills and the confidence to work with maintenance and engineering teams Experience in SAP, CMMS or other maintenance systems would be advantageous Experience in pulp & paper, steel, mining, forestry, processing, manufacturing or other heavy industrial environments would be highly regarded.
