About the Role Are you an experienced nursing leader who thrives in a fast-paced acute environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care? We are seeking a dynamic Charge Nurse Manager to lead Ward 28 Cardiology and the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). Ward 28 is a 15-bed cardiology ward providing specialist cardiac care supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Allied Health professionals and Cardiologists. The adjoining 6-bed CCU provides high-acuity cardiac and medical care, while the CCU team also delivers telemetry monitoring across the hospital and supports the Medical Emergency Team (MET) response service. As Charge Nurse Manager, you will provide visible clinical and operational leadership across both areas, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person and whānau-centred care. This is a multifaceted role requiring strong clinical judgement, excellent people leadership, and the ability to coordinate complex patient journeys across local and tertiary services, including close collaboration with Wellington Hospital, interventional cardiology, general medicine, respiratory services and other key stakeholders. About You We are looking for a leader who is clinically savvy, professionally credible, and able to confidently support teams caring for acutely unwell patients. You will be comfortable leading through change, fostering innovation, and working alongside your team to develop and implement new models of care that meet the evolving needs of our patients, workforce and health system. Equally important is your ability to inspire, coach and develop others, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, learning and excellence. What you will bring: Proven nursing leadership experience in an acute care environment. Strong clinical expertise and confidence managing high-acuity patients. Ability to lead, support and influence multidisciplinary teams. Experience driving service improvement, quality initiatives and change management. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A commitment to person and whānau-centred care, equity, and cultural responsiveness. Demonstrated ability to manage resources, workforce development and staff performance. A future-focused mindset with a willingness to embrace innovation and new models of care.
