EECA’s Regulations and Compliance Team plays a key role in making sure energy-using products meet New Zealand’s minimum energy performance and labelling requirements. Working across a range of products and with industry, the team helps ensure businesses understand and meet their regulatory obligations under the Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations 2002 and other statutory instruments. We are looking for a Compliance Advisor to ensure EECA’s annual programme of compliance activity and in particular the check testing, surveying and monitoring aspects of the programme are delivered to agreed timeframes and standards. The role works with multiple industries to ensure compliance with a range of regulated energy-using products and appliances, such as air conditioners, refrigerators, clothes washers and electric motors. Key responsibilities of the role include: Buying energy-using products and managing contracts with laboratories to get them tested to technical standards, and work with importers to remedy any issues that are identified. Carry out labelling survey activities, including inspecting retail sites and providing education to business owners when required. Gathering and preparing evidence for court prosecutions. Providing information and advice to help business comply with our regulations. Some travel is required for this role. To be successful in this role, you’ll have: Experience working in a regulatory compliance environment. Experience in procurement and contract management. Aptitude for understanding technical issues relating to equipment energy efficiency. Aptitude for interpreting and applying legislation. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Full New Zealand driver licence would be desirable.
