New Zealand Defence Force – Trentham, North Island You will contribute to the security and protective service of NZDF staff and visitors to Trentham Military Camp, maintaining physical security and safety and assisting with emergency and evacuation procedures. You will: Undergo ongoing training to improve and update standards and professionalism. Recognise, report on and take appropriate action on incidents, risks, breaches and suspicious behaviour. Be appropriately assertive and directive, de-escalate situations. Use your relationship management and communication skills to deal with staff, visitors and others in a helpful and positive way. Please note : This role involves shift work with 12 hour shifts covering days and nights including across weekends and public holidays. The roster pattern is two day shifts followed by two night shifts with four days off. There are significant periods of standing and walking around sites as well as the requirement to wear.The role also involves the wearing body armour for the majority of most shifts. This armour weighs approximately 3-5 kg depending on size. Please ensure you are comfortable with both requirements before applying for the role. The salary for this role is between $75,543 and $89,605 inclusive of 4% super contribution and salary loading payment for working rostered shifts. Where we appoint within this range is based on skills and experience. Ideally, you will have prior experience in operational security and be familiar with shift work. You will also need: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to de-escalate situations and deal with a variety of people. A good level of fitness is required, including the ability to stand and walk for long periods. Confidence using computers and familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite. Previous experience in CCTV, control room monitoring and use of security related databases and equipment is advantageous. Highest Level Security Clearance You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa. At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years. You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
