Job Description
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Convergence Partners – Rotorua, North Island Build your own portfolio and help shape the future of a rapidly growing, respected firm - without the big-city grind. We are recruiting an Associate - Business Advisory role for BDO Rotorua, a well-established firm with a strong advisory and accounting practice. The firm has its own local networks and growth-generation practices in place, which you’ll become a part of by joining the practice. You’ll work alongside the existing partners and take on senior leadership responsibilities within the team. About the role You’ll manage and grow a portfolio of business advisory and accounting clients - delivering compliance work (financial statements, tax, advisory), providing strategic advice and financial coaching to business owners, and building the kind of trusted relationships that turn prospects into long-term clients. Alongside the day-to-day, you’ll contribute to business development, networking, and firm leadership, supported by the firm’s established local networks. What's on offer The chance to help shape the future of a growing firm, rather than being a small part of a large corporate structure A federated ownership model with real local autonomy A high-quality client base in a supportive, "people helping people" culture Rotorua lifestyle: lakes, forests, mountain biking and geothermal on your doorstep, and housing far more affordable than Auckland or Hamilton Who the firm is looking for Chartered Accountant (or equivalent senior accounting qualification) Strong New Zealand public practice experience – minimum 4-5 years in a CA firm A significant business advisory/accounting firm background Experience managing client relationships independently Operating at senior manager, director, associate, or partner level Strong emotional intelligence, communication, and leadership capability You won't need an existing Bay of Plenty network or local BD relationships - those can be built. This role won't suit someone seeking a purely technical position with no interest in client relationships or leadership, and NZ public practice experience is essential. Apply Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and be currently based in New Zealand. If a senior advisory role with a respected, rapidly growing regional firm appeals to you and you’re open to a regional move, we’d welcome a confidential conversation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
