He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role This is an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving one of Auckland's most critical infrastructure networks. As an Operations Engineer - Wastewater Networks, you'll use your technical expertise, problem-solving skills and project delivery experience to help ensure reliable wastewater services for our customers and communities. You’ll work across planning, operations, maintenance and renewals, partnering with teams throughout the business to identify opportunities for network improvement, deliver infrastructure projects, and drive performance outcomes. This role offers a unique blend of operational engineering, asset management and project delivery, providing exposure to a broad range of stakeholders and technical challenges. Key responsibilities include: Analysing network and fault data to identify trends, improve performance and support informed decision‑making. Scoping and delivering capital renewal and improvement projects across the wastewater network. Capitalising capital expenditure post completion of renewal and improvement projects. Supporting the optimisation of maintenance programmes to improve network reliability and customer outcomes. Ensuring network assets continue to meet current engineering standards, design requirements and operational needs. Reviewing and monitoring infrastructure works completed by internal and external contractors. Responding to and managing network incidents, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with stakeholders. Participating in an after‑hours on‑call roster to support operational requirements. Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you You are a collaborative engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and making a tangible difference to essential community infrastructure. You're confident working with data, stakeholders and operational teams, and you're motivated by finding practical solutions that improve network performance and customer outcomes. You'll bring: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification. Experience delivering engineering or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of water or wastewater networks, network operations, maintenance, planning or asset management. An understanding of civil construction, engineering design, hydraulics and flow behaviour. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across a range of stakeholders. A customer‑focused mindset and the ability to make sound decisions in operational environments. A full New Zealand driver's licence.
