Refrigeration Installer / Fitter welder

Cooling Equipment Ltd is seeking an experienced and practical Refrigeration Installer / Fitter Welder to join our team in Palmerston North. This is a varied, hands-on role involving the manufacture and assembly of commercial refrigeration equipment. The successful applicant will work in our workshop contributing to the delivery of high-quality refrigeration systems and custom equipment. Key responsibilities Fabrication and assembly of refrigeration plant, pipework, frames, and associated components Welding and fabrication of mild steel frames Installation and brazing of copper refrigeration pipework Reading and working from technical drawings, schematics, and specifications Completing work accurately and to a high standard Following all quality/health and safety requirements Working closely with engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and project teams About you You will be a reliable and capable tradesperson who takes pride in producing quality work. You should be comfortable working independently while also contributing positively within a team. Ideally, you will have: Previous experience in refrigeration installation, mechanical services, pipe fitting, welding, or a similar trade Steel welding and copper brazing experience Experience fabricating mild steel frames and copper pipe work systems Experience with copper pipework and brazing The ability to read and interpret technical drawings Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail A strong commitment to workplace health and safety Good communication and time-management skills A current New Zealand driver licence The legal right to work in New Zealand A relevant trade qualification, Site Safe certification, forklift licence, and experience with commercial refrigeration systems would be advantageous. Training will be provided to the right applicant with strong fabrication and mechanical skills.
