About the Role We have a rare opportunity for Psychiatrists to join ourChild, Adolescent and Family (CAF) Mental Health Service in Christchurch, withboth full-time and part-time permanent positions available. CAF provides specialist mental health assessment andtreatment for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau across Waitaha Canterbury.You will work as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, providingspecialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment while contributingto collaborative care planning and clinical decision-making. These opportunities have arisen within a service that iswell staffed and has an established and experienced medical workforce.Permanent vacancies within the team are uncommon, making this an excellentopportunity for a Psychiatrist looking to join a supportive service with strongmultidisciplinary relationships and clinical expertise. There is flexibility to discuss the FTE and workingarrangements that may best suit the successful candidates. About the Team/Service/Location Our Child, Adolescent and Family service provides specialistmental health services for children and young people and works closely withtheir whānau, primary care, schools, community providers and other healthservices. You will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary teamcomprising psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupationaltherapists and other experienced mental health professionals. The servicevalues collegiality, shared clinical decision-making and the provision ofhigh-quality, developmentally appropriate care for tamariki and rangatahi. The Child,Adolescent and Family service in Canterbury and the Department of PsychologicalMedicine at the University of Otago Christchurch campus are closely connectedthrough clinical, training and research links and shared workforce. TheChristchurch Psychiatric registrar training programme is integrated with MentalHealth services here and includes placements in child and adolescentpsychiatry. Most of the Consultant Psychiatrists are also Honorary SeniorClinical Lecturers and have access to University resources, including researchresources. We also take an active part in training the next generation ofpsychiatrists, doctors and nurses through lectures, clinical supervision, andsupport. Based in Christchurch , you will have access toeverything the city and wider Canterbury region have to offer, with beaches,the Port Hills and outdoor recreation close by and the Southern Alps within easy reach. About you We are looking for a Child and Adolescent trainedPsychiatrist who enjoys working collaboratively and is committed to improvingoutcomes for children, young people and their whānau. You will have: Vocationalregistration, or eligibility for vocational registration, with the MedicalCouncil of New Zealand in the scope of Psychiatry. Fellowshipof the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists(FRANZCP), or an equivalent specialist qualification. Acollaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within amultidisciplinary team. Acommitment to culturally safe practice and improving equitable healthoutcomes for Māori.
