About the Role The role of theSpeciality Clinical Nurse for the MHAIDS ED team is based in the WellingtonEmergency Department and provides rapid assessments for all people includingcurrent mental health service users, who present to the Emergency Departmentwith a mental health problem. The primary function will be to triage assessmentand formulate current needs and issues, develop a crisis response plan andwhere indicated provide immediate mental health intervention and /or facilitateaccess to MHAID services, or other relevant services in the community. TheSpeciality Clinical Nurse will determine those who need to be seen urgently,while being able to safely defer less urgent referrals to non-crisis parts ofthe mental health and addiction services or primary health services. About the Team TheMHAIDS Emergency Department team is a dedicated, multidisciplinary group ofmental health professionals who work collaboratively to provide timely, expertcare to individuals presenting with acute mental health needs in the EmergencyDepartment setting. Comprising a mix of advanced nursing roles, including Mātanga TapuhiNurse Practitioner Intern, SpecialtyClinical Nurses, and other mental health clinicians, the team operates within ashared model of care that emphasises rapid assessment, culturally safeinterventions, and integrated support for tāngata whaiora and their whānau. About you Essentialqualifications, skills and qualifications: Registration withthe Nursing Council of New Zealand. A currentpractising certificate. Completion of anundergraduate (leading to registration) or post graduate programme in mentalhealth nursing. Three yearsmental health nursing experience, with demonstrated proficiency in mentalhealth crisis assessment, formulation, planning and implementation of care. Demonstrates anunderstanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti oWaitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way inthe nursing role.
