Horizon Energy Group – Queenstown, South Island Aquaheat New Zealand Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager to lead our HVAC Mechanical Installation Business Unit across Queenstown, Central Otago, Invercargill, and the wider Southern Lakes region . This senior leadership role oversees project delivery, commercial performance, operational management, and client relationships across multiple mechanical building services projects. Aquaheat New Zealand is one of New Zealand's most respected HVAC and mechanical project contractors. Alongside our core business, we operate several specialist divisions including AquaFire, (fire protection solutions), Colt (louvre and smoke control systems), and Classic Metal (roofing and cladding solutions). With over 70 years' experience, we deliver end-to-end solutions across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. From heating, cooling, and ventilation to fire protection and roofing, we design, install, and maintain systems that help keep New Zealand running. About the role: In this role, you will: Provide leadership, direction, and support to HVAC mechanical installation teams and subcontractors Oversee planning, resourcing, labour allocation, and project delivery across multiple mechanical projects Manage commercial performance including pricing, forecasting, variations, minor works, and profitability Support Project Managers with project strategy, technical selections, and cost‑to‑complete reviews Ensure compliance with Aquaheat's QMS, HSEQ requirements, client expectations, and legislative obligations Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders Lead continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, quality, and operational performance Support business planning including recruitment, resource forecasting, and workload management Provide project management oversight for multi‑disciplinary MEP projects where required Champion Aquaheat's SWITCH values and foster a high‑performing, safety‑focused culture About you: You will bring: Minimum 5 years' management experience in mechanical project works or contracting environments Relevant professional or technical qualifications in mechanical or HVAC disciplines Proven experience managing mechanical trade teams and installation operations At least 5 years' construction industry experience Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, budgeting, and project profitability Excellent planning, organisational, and stakeholder relationship skills Ability to lead, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams Strong understanding of building/service regulations and statutory obligations Commitment to safety and safe work practices What's in it for you?
