Mercy Hospice Auckland – Auckland, North Island Mercy Hospice delivers specialist palliative care to people in central Auckland catchment living with life-limiting illness. We focus on enhancing quality of life and supporting families and whānau through compassionate, holistic care that meets physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs. Our retail stores play a vital role in supporting this work, generating essential funds that help us continue providing care and services to our community. We have part-time opportunities in our Mt Roskill, Parnell and Ellerslie stores, with varied FTE available at different locations between 1 – 3 days per week. There is also opportunity to fill in extra shifts when other team members are on leave. Our Assistant Retail Managers play an essential role in our wider team. You will help ensure the smooth running of a 7 day a week store, from opening to closing, supported by fantastic Mercy Hospice volunteers. This role would suit someone who is fit and active, passionate about op shopping, sustainable fashion and is keen to contribute to an organisation making a difference.Knowledge about some of the finer things – collectables, antiques and fabulous homewares would be advantageous too! Ngā kawenga matua o te mahi / Key responsibilities of the role: Support Store Management: Opening and closing store; volunteer management, donation sorting and pricing and customer service. Shop Merchandising: Contribute to designing and implementing attractive and effective merchandise displays that enhance the shopping experience and maximize sales. Customer Engagement: Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, addressing their needs, and resolving any issues in a friendly and professional manner. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team, including volunteers and staff, to ensure smooth operations and a positive working environment. Operational Assistance: Help manage cash handling, store organisation, and adherence to health and safety guidelines. Ngā pūkenga e hiahiatia / Skills you’ll bring to the role: Previous experience in retail or similar, with a demonstrated flair for merchandising and creating inviting store environments. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, staff, and volunteers. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems. A passion for Mercy Hospice’s mission and a desire to make a positive impact.
