We are seeking an exceptionally talented Head of Motion / Senior Multimedia Designer to lead our Auckland-based studio's motion design department. This is a rare, dual-capability role that demands top-tier Creative Direction—leading projects from initial concept through to final delivery—combined with high-level 2D/3D motion graphics and animation execution and technical pipeline management delivering for a range of industries and platforms. As a cross-media multimedia designer, you will oversee entire project lifecycles, manage technical render pipelines, mentor designers, direct contractors, and translate complex client briefs into compelling visual narratives across commercials, broadcast graphics, kinetic typography, digital brand campaigns, UI/UX motion, aerospace and financial services industries and interactive digital media. Key responsibilities End-to-End Creative Direction: Concept, storyboard, design style frames, direct, and execute high-end multimedia design projects from initial brief through to final rendering and audio sync. 2D/3D Motion Graphics, animation & Mograph Design: Execute high-impact motion design, broadcast packages, kinetic typography, complex 2D/3D graphic systems, visual effects (VFX), and compositing. 3D Character & Asset Pipeline: Lead specialized 3D character and motion asset workflows—including concepting, modeling, custom character rigging, and animation—utilizing Cinema 4D. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Direct in-house designers and external contractors; manage project timelines, resource allocation, render pipelines, and creative quality control. Brand & Client Strategy: Ensure all creative output adheres strictly to client brand guidelines, visual style systems, and target client objectives. About you Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in 2D and 3D motion graphics experience, including senior-level leadership and proven project management abilities. Demonstrated ability to creative direct projects end-to-end as a true cross-media multimedia designer. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage technical pipelines while maintaining a hands-on production role. Expert mastery of Cinema 4D, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Unreal Engine, and Rive. Deep experience with advanced render engines, plugins, and tools: Redshift, Octane, X-Particles, Red Giant, working within VFX pipelines, and Motion Capture integration.
