New Zealand Police – Tauranga, North Island Opportunity to be based across Bay of Plenty Band – J Police Employee Permanent – Full Time NAV JR 6037013 Stand at the stern of the canoe and feel the spray of the future biting at your face Mō te tūnga | About the role As a Senior Advisor – Bay of Plenty District, you will lead and support the delivery of the Resilience to Organised Crime in Communities (ROCC) work programme across Bay of Plenty District (Tauranga, Whakatane and Rotorua). Working alongside Police, iwi and hapū, government agencies, community providers and people with lived experience, you will coordinate and enable a collective response to organised crime through community-led prevention, social intervention and targeted enforcement activity. This unique role combines strategic planning, partnership building and practical delivery, ensuring local aspirations, tikanga Māori and community resilience are at the heart of the mahi. Key Accountabilities: Enable delivery of the ROCC work programme across Bay of Plenty District. Align targeted enforcement, social intervention and community resilience approaches. Build and maintain trusted relationships with iwi/hapū, agencies, providers and community leaders. Enable collective action that addresses the harms and drivers of organised crime. Provide strategic advice, insights and reporting to inform local and national priorities. Demonstrated understanding of and experience working alongside Māori, including iwi/hapū and whānau, underpinned by cultural competence and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Political nous and a strong ability to navigate complex, multi-agency environments. Able to work autonomously, manage complexity and deliver in a fast-paced setting. Confident in preparing and delivering clear, strategic written and verbal briefings to senior leadership. Confident communicator who can translate community voice into action and build trust across diverse stakeholders. Project management and stakeholder coordination experience in a public sector or community context. Police Employees: Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level, at a future date or Police Employees: Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for. Regular Travel will be required. A NZ full drivers’ licence is essential. This role is Individual Contributor/Emerging Leader level. This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $111,529 and $118,184 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
