As a Claims Consultant, you’ll be a key point of contact for Members—providing clear, timely support across phone and digital channels. You’ll assess and process claims in line with policy and service standards, helping ensure Members can access the cover they need. You’ll also play an important role in managing risk and maintaining high-quality records and decisions. Support Members with enquiries and claim updates across phone, digital and (where needed) in-person channels Assess and process claims accurately and efficiently, applying policy, guidelines and delegated authority Explain cover, documentation requirements and next steps in clear, plain language Use sound judgement to identify inconsistencies or risks, and escape complex cases appropriately Maintain accurate records and handle Member information confidentially, in line with privacy and compliance requirements You’re a people-focused, detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving problems and making complex information easier to understand. You’ll be comfortable working at pace while balancing accuracy, quality and Member experience. Experience in claims is helpful, but not essential—what matters most is your customer-first mindset and ability to learn. Proven customer service experience (ideally in a contact centre environment) with a calm, empathetic approach High attention to detail and ability to manage a busy workload while maintaining speed, accuracy and quality Strong communication skills—able to listen, ask the right questions and explain outcomes and next steps clearly Learning agility—confident picking up new systems and building knowledge of products, policies and policy intent Resilient problem-solver who can navigate sensitive conversations, de-escalate where needed, and follow compliance/privacy requirements At UniMed, we’re on a mission to create the happiest, healthiest workplace in Aotearoa – and we'd love for you to be part of that journey.
