About the opportunity We're looking for an experienced HR Adviser / HR Generalist to join our team to provide additional capacity as our client work grows. This is an opportunity to join a young and growing HR consultancy, in a flexible and varied role. We're a small, personable business, so your experience, ideas and contribution will be genuinely valued. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how we work with our clients and how In Balance HR grows and operates over time. You’ll work directly with a range of businesses across a broad range of HR matters, including absenteeism, performance management, change management, employment relations and restructuring. A key part of the role will be working directly with our clients as a trusted adviser, so you’ll need to be confident in building strong relationships, communicating clearly and providing practical and timely advice tailored to the individual client. You’ll be expected to work independently and take ownership of the work you are responsible for, while having the support of the Director when you need to discuss an issue, sense-check an approach or work through something more complex. About you We're looking for an experienced HR Adviser / HR Generalist with excellent interpersonal skills, who is comfortable working autonomously and whose work is underpinned by integrity. You’ll be pragmatic, proactive and approachable. You’ll also bring: Experience providing HR advice and coaching directly to managers, leaders or business owners Experience across generalist HR and employee relations Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR practice Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach Confidence working independently and managing your own workload A high level of professionalism and attention to detail The working arrangement This is a casual role and the amount of work will vary depending on client demand and requirements. Work would range from smaller pieces of client support through to larger projects or periods of additional client work. We're open to engaging the right person as either a casual employee or independent contractor.
