Regional Market Merchandiser / Product Manager Pentland New Zealand Limited – Avondale, North Island We are seeking a full-time Regional Market Merchandiser / Product Manager (SMU) to join our team, reporting to the head of Market Merchandising APAC. In this role, you will manage Canterbury of New Zealand’s regional SMU, licensed, and market-specific product requirements, translating local market insights into commercially viable product plans. Working across regional and global teams, you will ensure product execution meets market needs while remaining aligned to Canterbury’s single product plan and overall brand direction. The Role You'd Play Own the regional SMU and market-specific product brief process, capturing customer, consumer and commercial needs. Partner with regional commercial teams, global Product Management and Design to align local opportunities to the global range. Build clear product briefs, business cases and range recommendations for SMU activity. Assess commercial viability, pricing, margin, minimums, and operational feasibility for regional opportunities. Use market insight, sales, feedback, and product performance to inform future product planning. Responsible for building and managing the seasonal range assortment, working closely with Planning and Commercial teams to support MOQ achievement, consolidate demand where required, and ensure buys are placed accurately and on time. Educate and upskill Commercial and Retail teams on product knowledge, range architecture, key selling messages, technical benefits and seasonal priorities, ensuring teams are confident in presenting and selling the range effectively. Bring together consumer insight, commercial feedback and development feasibility so product decisions are both ambitious and deliverable. Lead SMU product and market merchandising inputs, ensuring customer briefs are commercially and operationally viable. Collaborate with the Pro Teams Design & Development and Sports Marketing teams to build and deliver commercially compelling licensed product ranges, ensuring all products align with contractual obligations and partner requirements. What You'd Bring to the Role Product management, merchandising or category experience in sport, apparel, teamwear or consumer goods. Experience with SMU, licensed, regional or customer-specific product activity is valuable. Strong commercial awareness and ability to assess range opportunities, costs and margin. Ability to translate market insight into clear product briefs and recommendations. Strong Excel skills are a priority. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign or Illustrator, would be beneficial, although a strong ability to learn quickly would also be considered. Knowledge of ERP SAP or PLM systems is preferred, or the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes. Ability and genuine passion for adopting AI tools, with a commitment to regularly updating skills and ways of working in line with emerging AI capabilities, business needs and best practice. Clear communication and stakeholder management across commercial, product, design and development teams. Confident in group presentations. Organised, analytical, and able to balance local needs with global consistency. Flexibility and willingness to travel overseas when required to attend global design reviews, seasonal range sign-offs, launch conferences and other key international meetings.
