Safari Hotels is seeking a detail oriented and driven Hotel Operations Manager to spearhead the opening of our brand new property in Palmerston North. Tryp Palmerston North will be the 2nd Tryp property in New Zealand and is due to open on 1 November. In this pivotal pre-opening role, you will be responsible for laying the groundwork for our success. Setting up essential operational systems, establishing robust procedures, and ensuring the property is flawlessly prepared and ready for day 1. Once the doors open, you will transition into our "boots on the ground" lead. You will be the key driver of on-site, day-to-day operations, focusing on the smooth running of all business functions and the consistent delivery of exceptional guest experiences. This is a full-time position centered on operational excellence, team coordination, and the seamless rollout of Safari Hotels’ brand standards, ensuring head office strategies are executed to the highest standard from opening day and beyond. What You’ll Be Doing Execute Operations: Deliver the day-to-day running of the front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance in line with head office directives. Implement Strategy: Roll out and maintain operational policies and procedures provided by the group to ensure consistency and efficiency. Team Supervision: Manage and support the on-site front-line staff, ensuring they are well-trained and following established protocols. Service Standards: Monitor guest satisfaction daily, resolving any immediate issues and ensuring the brand’s service promise is met. Reporting: Track key performance metrics and provide regular feedback to head office to support continuous improvement. Compliance: Ensure the property remains fully compliant with all health, safety, and legal regulations. What We’re Looking For Operational Experience: Proven experience in a hotel supervisory or operations role where you have successfully followed and met KPIs. Effective Team Coordinator: Strong people management skills with a focus on coaching staff to meet specific operational goals. Technical Proficiency: Experience with Opera Cloud is preferred. Process-Oriented: A disciplined approach to following SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and implementing group wide strategies. Problem Solving: Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle on-site challenges calmly and professionally.
