Clinical Nurse Specialist - Permanent 1.0 FTE At Nelson Tasman Hospice, we provide compassionate, specialist palliative care to support patients and their whānau to live every moment with dignity, respect, and comfort. Nelson Tasman Hospice is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our interdisciplinary team on a permanent, full-time basis. About the Role As our Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert specialist palliative care nursing across our inpatient unit, community services, and In-Reach service for patients and whānau with complex needs. You will work collaboratively with our Clinical Services Director, Clinical Lead, Medical Director and wider interdisciplinary team (IDT), bringing advanced clinical skills and leadership to ensure high quality end of life care. In this role, you will: Triage and respond to referrals, supporting equitable and timely access to specialist palliative care across the Nelson Tasman region Mentor, coach and provide clinical leadership to the wider hospice nursing team Provide education and support to generalist palliative care providers, including primary care, aged residential care, and Health New Zealand %02; Te Whatu Ora Champion equitable access for Māori, Pacific peoples, the Disability Community, rainbow communities and other underserved groups Embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into practice, including application of the Mauri Mate Māori Palliative Care Framework Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and the development of clinical pathways Uphold the Hospice New Zealand Standards for Palliative Care and Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standards We are looking for a confident, emotionally intelligent senior nurse who is comfortable making autonomous decisions, holding sensitive conversations about deterioration and dying, and influencing multidisciplinary practice. You will bring: Passion to provide high quality care to patients and their family/whānau with a life limiting illness Registration as a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with no conditions or endorsements Postgraduate Diploma in Palliative Care (or actively working toward). Senior Nurse (Expert) level on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), or actively working toward. Minimum five years' post-registration nursing experience (substantive experience in specialist palliative care is desirable). Demonstrated experience in advance care planning, last-days-of-life care and complex symptom management Demonstrated experience in advance care planning, last-days-of-life care and complex symptom management, including strong communication skills for sensitive conversations about goals of care, deterioration, and dying.
