The role This is a permanent part-time Retail Assistant role working Saturday and Sunday from 9:45am to 4:45pm as part of a busy, community minded ReStore team. The role supports the smooth day-to-day running of the ReStore, with a focus on sales, stock management, manual handling and excellent customer service. Key requirements include strong communication skills, retail experience, reliability, teamwork and a genuine interest in preloved household items, clothes, books and other donated goods. Some of your responsibilities will include: Providing excellent customer service, including responding to in-store and telephone enquiries, requests and complaints Assisting with inward goods, including manual handling, lifting stock and rearranging the stock room and shop floor Receiving, preparing and displaying goods for sale, ensuring stock levels and quality are maintained Assisting with opening and closing procedures and processing sales Supporting volunteers with day-to-day store tasks and guidance Maintain the tidiness and cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the ReStore Supporting recycling, care for the environment and waste minimisation by disposing of waste materials appropriately Our Ideal Candidate We're looking for a customer-focused, reliable, and motivated individual with a strong interest in fashion, brands, and preloved goods. You'll have a keen eye for detail, enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment, and be comfortable assisting with stock management and physical lifting tasks. You’ll ideally have: At least 2 years' retail experience Confidence driving a small truck to transport stock A good level of fitness for moving furniture and stock A calm, proactive, and self-motivated approach An eye for merchandising and store presentation (preferred) A genuine commitment to Habitat's mission and helping within a charitable organisation About Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity Northern and Southern Limited is the largest of Habitat for Humanity affiliates in New Zealand.
