Job Description
Communications and Operations Coordinator Palmerston North Girls' High School is seeking an experienced, proactive Communications & Operations Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of our main office, support our Senior Leadership Team and collaborate across the school to build a vibrant online presence. As part of our wider Administration team, you will be the operational hub of the school, balancing efficient administration with communications, branding and community engagement. Grounded in our values of Whakaute (Respect), Whakatangata (Humanity) and Whakamana (Empowerment), you will be one of the friendly, professional faces of our school’s front office. Key Responsibilities Office Operations: Support the daily operations of the School Office, including reception, student administration and essential business processes. Communications & Engagement: Leads the delivery of school-wide communications, social media, website content and digital branding, while managing complex enquiries and promoting a positive image of the school. Systems & Compliance: Drive continuous improvement of administrative systems and workflows, oversee office resources, maintain records and supports Health & Safety. Leadership & Support: Provide high-level operational support to the Senior Leadership Team and collaborate across the school to deliver responsive, effective administrative services. You will be: A highly experienced administrator. A confident communicator, able to build positive relationships and manage complex or sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, predominantly front-facing environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining excellent customer service. Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to think ahead, improve systems and processes, and work independently. Technically capable, with strong digital skills and experience using databases and Google Workspace (or similar platforms). Experienced in communications and design, with the ability to create engaging digital and print content across a range of platforms. A collaborative team player, who enjoys supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive school culture. The holder of a current First Aid Certificate, or willing to obtain one before commencing (the cost will be covered by the school). Why Join Us?
