About the Role A leading subcontractor in the intumescent and protective coatings sector is seeking a proactive, energetic individual with strong leadership skills to step into the role of Project Lead – Commercial & Operations. This is a dynamic, hybrid position that combines commercial oversight with operational leadership. We’re looking for a go-getter who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes ownership of planning, quality control, and client satisfaction across all phases of construction projects. Role Overview As Project Lead, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of intumescent and protective coatings projects across commercial and industrial sites. The role demands a highly organised and accurate professional with a strong grasp of commercial management, operational execution, quality compliance, and client engagement. You’ll lead from the front, driving performance, ensuring standards are met, and building trusted relationships with stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met Provide on-site leadership through team oversight and regular site reviews Manage project financials including claims, budgets, forecasting, and variations Support pricing, procurement, and contract administration Oversee project tools, resource planning, procurement, and documentation Ensure QA documentation and workflows are completed and compliant Conduct site audits and resolve technical issues Develop short-term programmes aligned with client schedules Manage staff timesheets, performance reviews, and onboarding processes Promote a strong health & safety culture and ensure SOP compliance Attend H&S meetings, investigate incidents, and manage pre-start procedures Act as the primary client contact, managing communications and expectations Lead client meetings and oversee reporting, claims, and project closeouts Skills & Experience Required Proven experience in project delivery within subcontracting, protective coatings, or construction Strong commercial acumen with expertise in cost control and financial forecasting Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills High attention to detail and documentation compliance Proficiency in platforms such as Aconex, Procore, CONQA, and Workbench (or similar) Demonstrated leadership in high-pressure environments Key Attributes Results-driven and solutions-oriented Strong time management and multitasking ability Energetic problem solver Collaborative team player with initiative Safety-conscious with a commitment to continuous improvement At Emergent, we are committed to cultivating a workplace where diversity and collaboration thrive.
