Based in Greymouth or Westport | Permanent, full-time Open Polytechnic is New Zealand's specialist provider of open and distance learning, delivering high-quality vocational and higher education opportunities to learners throughout Aotearoa. As we establish the provision of vocational education and training in Te Tai o Poutini, we are seeking an experienced and community-connected leader for the newly established role of Regional Operations Lead. This is a senior Open Polytechnic leadership position based in Te Tai o Poutini, providing operational leadership for our Regional Learning Hubs in Greymouth and Westport. Working closely alongside the local teams, the Regional Operations Lead will provide leadership across regional operations, health, safety and wellbeing, stakeholder engagement, community and provider partnerships, and external representation. The role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with iwi and hapū, secondary schools, employers, industry organisations, community groups and local government stakeholders throughout Te Tai o Poutini.

  • Lead the efficient and effective operation of Open Polytechnic's Regional Learning Hubs and associated delivery sites across Te Tai o Poutini.
  • \n
  • Provide leadership for health, safety and wellbeing across all regional activities.
  • \n
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with iwi, hapū, employers, schools, industry bodies, community organisations and government agencies.
  • \n
  • Support the growth and development of vocational education and training opportunities that respond to the needs of learners, communities and employers.
  • \n
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of strategic objectives in Te Tai o Poutini.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in operational, community, education, training or related environments.

  • Strong networks and credibility across Te Tai o Poutini.
  • \n
  • Experience working effectively with iwi, hapū and diverse community stakeholders.

  • Experience in leading workplace health, safety and wellbeing practices.
  • \n
  • Proven ability to develop productive partnerships with employers, industry groups and public sector agencies.
  • \n
  • Experience leading people, managing resources and delivering organisational outcomes.
  • \n
  • A commitment to learner success, community development and vocational education.
