Legal and compliance of headoffice
Job Description
We MEGA Pharmacitical Group is a multinational manufacturer and exporter of nutritional and health supplement products, with New Zealand-based production and an international customer and supplier network — a large share of it in China and other Chinese-speaking markets. As the business has grown, so have our obligations: regulatory, legal, financial and administrative. This role sits at head office and keeps all of it in order.
About the role\nYou will support our legal and compliance function from head office, working directly with the directors and with our external advisors (legal, accounting, regulatory). It is a broad, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable owning process and paperwork end to end, and who can move between Chinese-language source material and English-language output all day without losing accuracy.
\nYour responsibilities will include:
\n- \n
- Supporting legal compliance: preparing, reviewing and tracking contracts with customers, suppliers and distributors; coordinating with external counsel; keeping the business aligned with New Zealand and export-market requirements \n
- Supporting the management of current disputes and claims: assembling chronologies, evidence bundles and document sets, tracking deadlines, and preparing clear written summaries for management and external advisors \n
- Maintaining and improving our administrative compliance framework — policies, registers, records and internal procedures across the group \n
- Supporting financial compliance and reporting: working with the finance team on controls, documentation, audit and statutory obligations \n
- Structuring and writing internal documentation — procedures, reports, submissions and briefing papers \n
- Running discrete compliance projects from scoping through to completion \n
- \n
- A background in law (degree or equivalent professional qualification) \n
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience \n
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English, written and spoken. Much of our contract and correspondence flow is with clients and suppliers in China and other Chinese-speaking markets, and that material has to be worked with in Chinese and rendered accurately into English for our New Zealand lawyers, auditors and regulators. The role cannot be performed without both languages \n
- Excellent written English — you will be drafting documents that go to lawyers, auditors and regulators \n
- Genuinely strong at organising a project: you can take a messy pile of material and turn it into a structured, indexed, defensible file \n
- Meticulous, discreet and able to hold multiple workstreams at once without losing detail \n
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving business where priorities shift \n
- Legally entitled to work in New Zealand \n
$70,000 – $100,000 per annum, depending on experience and demonstrated capability
\n- \n
- A genuinely broad remit — this is not a narrow, single-process compliance job \n
- Direct access to decision-makers at head office and the chance to shape how the function is built \n
- Long-term career progression as the group continues to expand \n
