Head of Māori Outcomes - Auckland Transport

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join us as our Head of Māori Outcomes, a critical role that will provide strategic leadership, trusted advice, and influential partnership across our organisation and wider stakeholder network.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will be the organisation's most senior Māori outcomes leader, helping ensure our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is translated into practical action, strong partnerships, and tangible outcomes for Māori communities.

This is a unique opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, strengthen relationships with mana whenua and mataawaka, and help shape the future of transport across Auckland.

What you'll be doing

As Head of Māori Outcomes, you will:

• Provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive, senior leaders and governance stakeholders on Māori outcomes and Te Tiriti obligations.
\n
• Champion the integration of Māori outcomes across organisational strategies, policies, programmes and decision-making.
\n
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with mana whenua, mataawaka, Houkura and key Māori stakeholders.
\n
• Support leaders to navigate complex Māori outcomes matters with confidence and cultural competence.
\n
• Drive accountability and continuous improvement in how we deliver outcomes for Māori across the organisation.

You are a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of te ao Māori and demonstrated success influencing strategic outcomes within complex organisations.

You'll bring:

• Significant experience advising senior executives and leadership teams on Māori outcomes and Te Tiriti-related matters.
\n
• Proven success building strong, enduring relationships with Māori communities, mana whenua and mataawaka.
\n
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
\n
• The ability to operate effectively in complex, politically sensitive environments.
\n
• Experience within local government, public sector, infrastructure or large operational organisations will be highly regarded.
\n
• Competence in te reo Māori is strongly preferred.
\n
